Indications

  • Allergic Rhinitis: Relief of nasal and eye symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itching, and tearing caused by hay fever or other upper respiratory allergies.
  • Chronic Urticaria (Hives): Treatment of long-term skin rash with itching and wheals.
  • Conjunctivitis: Alleviates allergic eye symptoms like itching and redness.
Mechanism of Action
  • Cetirizine blocks histamine H1 receptors, preventing the effects of histamine—a chemical that causes allergy symptoms.
    • Reduces inflammation, itching, and watery eyes
    • Rapid onset of action (~1 hour)
    • Long duration of relief (up to 24 hours)
    • Non-sedating at recommended doses
Dosage and Administration
  • Form: Oral tablet
  • Dosage (Adults and children 12+):
    • 1 tablet (10 mg) once daily with or without food
  • Pediatric Use:
    • Consult a physician for children under 12
  • Note:
    • Do not exceed recommended dose
    • Can be taken with water; avoid alcohol
Side Effects

    • Drowsiness (mild and rare)
