Description

Drug Class: Estrogen (Sex Hormone)
Manufacturer: Emra-Med Pharmaceuticals GmbH
Country of Origin: Germany

This is a prescription medicine, which requires a valid prescription!

Indications

  • Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT): Femoston mono 2 mg is indicated for estrogen replacement therapy in postmenopausal women to relieve symptoms caused by estrogen deficiency (eg, hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness).
  • Menopause: Used in women whose last menstrual period occurred at least 6 months ago.
  • Prevention of Osteoporosis: In some cases, it may also be prescribed to help prevent postmenopausal bone loss when other options are unsuitable.
Mechanism of Action
  • Estradiol, the active ingredient in Femoston mono 2 mg, is a synthetic form of the natural estrogen hormone. It:
    • Replaces the estrogen that the ovaries no longer produce after menopause.
    • Alleviates vasomotor symptoms (like hot flashes).
    • Helps maintain the integrity of vaginal and urinary tract tissues.
    • Supports bone density by slowing bone loss in postmenopausal women.
  • Note: This formulation contains only estradiol (no progestogen). It is generally prescribed for women who
do not have a uterus , as progestogen is usually needed to protect the uterine lining in women with an intact uterus.
