Indications
- Prevention of Pregnancy: Jubrele is a low-dose, progestin-only birth control pill designed to prevent pregnancy in women of reproductive age. It is especially suitable for those who cannot tolerate estrogen or are breastfeeding.

- Desogestrel prevents pregnancy primarily by:
- Inhibition of ovulation
- Thickening cervical mucus to block sperm entry
- Altering the uterine lining to prevent implantation
- Unlike combined oral contraceptives, Jubrele contains no estrogen , reducing the risk of estrogen-related side effects.
- Form: Oral tablets
- Strength: 75 micrograms Desogestrel per tablet
- Dosage: One tablet daily, at the same time every day, without interruption between packs
- Administration: Swallow whole with water; can be taken with or without food
- Common:
- Irregular bleeding or spotting
- Headache
- Acne
- Breast tenderness
- Mood swings
- Serious (rare):
- Blood clots (though rare with progestin-only pills)
- Ectopic pregnancy (if contraceptive failure occurs)
- Liver disorders
- Do not use Jubrele if you have:
- Known or suspected pregnancy
- Active venous thromboembolism
- Severe liver disease or liver tumors

Warnings and Precautions:
- Must be taken at the same time daily — even a delay of more than 12 hours may reduce efficacy.
- Not recommended as the first choice for women with a history of depression , hypertension , or diabetes — consult a healthcare provider.
- Use additional contraception (eg, condoms) during the first 7 days of initial use or after missed pills.
Drug Interactions:
- Efficacy may be reduced by certain medications (eg, antibiotics , anticonvulsants , St. John’s Wort ).
