Indications
- Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT):
- Used in combination with estrogen in postmenopausal women with an intact uterus to prevent endometrial hyperplasia caused by estrogen-only therapy.
- Menstrual Disorders:
- Treatment of secondary amenorrhea or irregular menstrual cycles due to progesterone deficiency.

- Support of the luteal phase in IVF or other fertility treatments.

Progesterone is a natural steroid hormone that:
- Binds to progesterone receptors in the uterus and other tissues.
- Prepares the endometrium for possible pregnancy by converting it from the proliferative to the secretory phase.
- Counteracts the proliferative effects of estrogen on the endometrium, reducing the risk of hyperplasia and cancer.
- Regulates menstrual cycles and supports pregnancy maintenance.
- Form: Soft gelatin capsules (Weichkapseln), 100 mg progesterone per capsule.
- Typical Dosage:
- For HRT: 100–200 mg daily, usually for 10–14 days per cycle in combination with estrogen therapy.
- For luteal support in fertility treatments: varies, often 200 mg daily or as directed by specialist.
- For menstrual disorders: individualized dosing.
- Administration:
- Taken orally, preferably at the same time each day.
